One of the long-standing romantic traditions is associated with mistletoe berries. In the forest, mistletoe grow on the trees. Why should it not be on moose antlers? Traditionally, in wintertime every December, couples kiss under the festive plant to celebrate their love during the holidays. The tradition of hanging it in the house goes back to the times of the ancient Druids. It is supposed to possess mystical powers which bring good luck to the household and wards off evil spirits. It was also used as a sign of love and friendship in Norse mythology. The basis of the mistletoe tradition was that men were allowed to kiss any woman seen underneath mistletoe and refusal to accept was considered bad luck. Today, we hang mistletoe over our doors and kiss beneath the plant.
