Rosemaling is a style of Norwegian decorative painting on wood that uses stylized flower ornamentation.
The rosemaling flower painting, that is, the "rose pattern", appeared in Norway in the 17th century. In those days, it was used mainly for decorating interior items - chairs, kitchen shelves, chests, beds. Later plates appeared painted in this technique.
